Côte d'Ivoire, particularly through the Ministry of Digital Economy, Telecommunications and Innovation, is doing everything possible to make the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress a success. The country is hosting this major event, which has been awaited for years and is scheduled to take place from 9 to 27 August 2021 at the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire.

The 27th Congress brings together plenipotentiaries from the 192 member countries every four years. The main objective of the Congress is to bring together the global postal strategy for the next four years. Over three weeks, participating member countries jointly address policy, strategy and development issues in the global postal sector. “The Government, through the Ministry of Digital Economy, Telecommunications and Innovation, invites all the key players in the Ivorian public administration, all local authorities, diplomatic representations accredited in Côte d'Ivoire, the Embassies of Côte d'Ivoire in the 192 member countries of the UPU, the national and international press, technical and financial institutions and partners, the the national and international private sector, to mobilize to take up the challenge of making the 27th Congress of the Universal Postal Union, which will take place in Africa, and for the first time in Côte d'Ivoire, a historic success,” indicates a note from the ministry. During the Congress, discussions will be held with the aim of defining, in a consensual manner, the rules that will govern the logistical management of international mail exchanges for the next four years.
