If she is elected president of the Mutual General of Civil Servants of Côte d'Ivoire, MUGEFCI, next September, Dr. Kamara Laurence intends to continue the transformation of microfinance MUCREFCI-CI towards the bank of Civil Servants.

This financial establishment will come, according to the candidate of the Solidarity Equality Group, to increase the resources of the MUGEFCI and to strengthen the socio-economist capacities of the mutualists. “This project is already nearing completion. It is even advanced. With 350,000 mutual members, we can easily set up a bank which will be responsible for granting credit to our members to improve our standard of living and our socio-economic conditions”, says Dr Kamara Laurence.

At a press conference on Saturday July 24, 2021 in Abidjan, the current 2nd vice-president of the mutual said she wanted to make MUGEFCI a reference in terms of social mutuality. To do so, it intends to rely on six areas, including the promotion of mutualist values, the revitalization of access to information, the creation of targeted socio-health structures and the continuation of the process of certification of MUGEFCI's quality approach. “We have the capacity, skills and experience to carry out this mission. The MUGEFCI has started a process with the previous team and we remain in this process by bringing the innovations that are necessary for each mutualist to feel fulfilled”, supports the candidate of the Solidarity Equality Group.

Dr. Kamara Laurence is a doctor, health economist in mutualist governance and certified in medical law. After the elections. This graduate of Cheick Anta Diop University in Dakar could be the first doctor at the head of MUGEFCI and especially the first woman to hold the position of chairman of the board of directors of this institution, since its creation in 1973.
