The Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, a PIDG member company, is providing a €25 million loan to Ivoir Hydro Energy (IHE), a green hydropower project in Côte d'Ivoire. The new plant will be an important strategic economic asset for Ouattara's country.

The 18-year loan is a crucial support for the construction of a 44MW hydroelectric power plant in Côte d'Ivoire, on the Bandama River, near the village of Singrobo. Closing is scheduled for the end of the third quarter of 2021. The construction period for this €174 million project is estimated at 36 months. A long-term power purchase agreement stipulates that all production from the Singrobo plant will be sold to the Compagnie Ivoirienne d'Électricité, the operator of the national grid in Côte d'Ivoire. The new plant will be an important strategic economic asset for Côte d'Ivoire. In addition to increasing the country's generation capacity, it will enhance the flexibility of the system by its ability to provide base load power, but also to meet peak demand. The African Development Bank (AfDB), as lead arranger of the debt financing, will be the preferred creditor in its own right. In addition to the AfDB and EAIF, other creditors include the German Investment and Development Company (DEG) and the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). 25% of the project cost is financed with equity from the shareholders IHE Holding, the Africa Finance Corporation and DIPFA, an international investment platform for power generation projects owned by Denham Capital. Neo Themis SARL is acting as advisor and for the shareholders in finalizing the development and financing agreements for the project.
