Provide Niger with appropriate tools for planning and managing its development, it is in this vision that the work of the national workshop to launch the process of drawing up the Economic and Social Development Plan (PDES) 2022-2026 were launched on Monday in Niamey. The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Planning, Abdou Rabiou in the presence of the representative of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Niamey and director of the TFP office, Attaher Maiga, the representative of the World Bank, Joëlle Dehasse, and some participants.

Organized by the Ministry of Planning, this two-day workshop aims to operationalize the Government's General Policy Statement and the Act 3 Renaissance Program whose credo is "consolidate and move forward". In his speech, Minister of Planning Abdou Rabiou recalled that Niger has long experience in planning. This was reinforced by the provisions of the Constitution of November 25, 2010 which stipulates, in its article 146 that “the action of the State in terms of economic and social development policies is supported by a strategic vision”. For the Minister, Niger has adopted a Sustainable Development and Inclusive Growth Strategy (SDDCI) Niger 2035, of which the PDES 2017-2021 is the first version. Through this, it will be a matter of ensuring continuity in public policies. “The process will be bottom-up and top-down; the regions will be fully associated in order to create the conditions for greater ownership of the general architecture of the planning system. The structural transformation of our economy will be at the center of the pillars of the emergence of Niger”, explained Minister Abdou Rabiou, specifying that the communication will accompany the whole process before, during and after the formulation of this Plan.
