Benin's state budget execution report indicates as of March 31, 2021, a 21% increase in gross budget revenue. Budget expenditures have also increased.

From 268 billion 160 million in March 2020, gross budgetary revenue increased to 324 billion 553 million at the end of March 2021, an increase of 56 billion 393 million FCFA. As a percentage, this therefore reflects an increase of 21%. During the same period, the appropriations consumed by Benin amounted to 489 billion 807 million FCFA, an increase of 63 billion 693 million if we compare with the figures for the first quarter of 2020. On the basis of authorized securities, budgetary expenditure reached 421 billion 438 million FCFA, which reflects an increase of 23.7% of the annual forecasts which are 1780 billion 229 billion FCFA. At the end of the first quarter of 2021, the budget execution balance was in the red: -96.885 billion FCFA.
