The World Bank report reveals that Togo has made a huge jump of 40 places, against 19 last year, and ranks 97th out of the 190 countries of the planet evaluated.

The annual report on the ease of doing business in countries, Doing Business 2020, published by the World Bank (WB), ranks Togo 3rd among the top 10 reforming countries in the world and 1st in Africa ahead of Nigeria. Togo obtains very good scores in the Doing Business 2020 report, made public yesterday from New York in the United States, headquarters of the WB. This is good news for the country in terms of improving the business climate. With this classification, Togo is placed behind Saudi Arabia and Jordan and ahead of countries such as China and India. Togo is also 1 ^st on the continent, ahead of Nigeria, among others. In general, on the continent, it is Mauritius (13th) and Rwanda (38th) which lead the African countries in terms of economic attractiveness. The Togolese government has implemented reforms relating to business creation, access to credit, property transfer, connection to electricity and building permits. Reforms driven by the government through the Business Climate Unit of the Presidency of the Republic.

The country has also reduced the cost and time required to obtain building permits. This formality has been simplified by setting up an online portal for submitting applications.
