Brought to the head of the Platform of Audiovisual Regulators of the member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), for a two-year term, the President of the National Audiovisual Regulatory Council (Cnra) , Babacar Diagne wants to establish harmonization at the legal level, at the level of regulations and good practices.

The new boss of the Cnra wants to draw up an exhaustive inventory to work on the typology of regulation in all the countries of the Uemoa space. It will therefore strive to identify the needs and expectations of regulatory bodies, the main good practices (...), list the demands expressed for capacity building of regulators in each country, he underlines, in a exclusive interview with the APS. The former director general of Radiodiffusion Télévision sénégalaise ¨ (RTS, public) considers that initially, it is useful to draw up an exhaustive inventory but also to work on the typology of regulation in all the countries of the WAEMU space.

“We need to precisely identify the needs and expectations of regulatory bodies, the main good practices (…), list the demands expressed for capacity building of regulators in each country, to take charge of them at the level of the UEMOA,” he continued. He also thinks that it is appropriate to define objective indicators for efficient and objective regulation and to harmonize the texts.
