Improve the collection of taxes and levies at the level of local authorities in the Kolda region. It is with this objective that about twenty participants have been taking part since Tuesday morning in a training session centered on local taxation.

At the end of the training session, participants should be able to understand the basics of property taxation with the identification of the types of local taxes and also to know their missions, roles and responsibilities. They should also be able to differentiate the procedures for collecting property taxes and the means used. “The Directorate General of Taxes and Lands (DGID) has entered into a partnership with the Governance for Local Development program (USAID/GoLD) for (…) the operationalization of local tax commissions (…), particularly in local authorities of the south-eastern zone", recalled Abdoulaye Albert Mbaye of the local authorities office of the DGID. This partnership aims to train participants made up of commissioners, local elected officials and municipal officials on the procedures for setting up local tax commissions (CFL).
