The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has just granted an additional CFAF 5 billion facility to Togo for the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed power plant, inaugurated on June 22 by Faure Gnassingbé. The infrastructure had benefited from 7 billion FCFA from the bank.

This new financing brings the overall cost of the infrastructure co-financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), to 26 billion FCFA. It is intended for extending the power of the photovoltaic power plant from 30 to 50 MWp. As a reminder, the inauguration of the power plant developed by the Emirati Amea Power, took place nearly two months after the operationalization of a first 47 MW turbine of the Kekeli Efficient Power thermal power plant. Its second turbine, with a capacity of 18 Mw, should be commissioned by the end of the year. In addition, Togo, which aims to achieve universal access to electricity by 2030, with a 50% share of renewables in its energy mix, should benefit from Nigeria's energy surplus thanks to the North Core sub-regional project. .
