The activities of the project to strengthen cybersecurity and fight against cybercrime in the ECOWAS + Mauritania OCWAR-C area were launched this Friday, June 25, 2021. The objective is to raise awareness among State actors, officials private structures and the population to the challenges of digital hygiene, taking into account international best practices.

A workshop is organized within the framework of the implementation of the OCWAR-C project (Organized crime: West African response on Cyber-security and the fight against cybercrime). “There was the inventory that was made as part of the implementation of the national strategy document and policy on cyber-security, cyber-crime and cyber-defence. This prompted us to identify a set of flaws at the national level. Also, Guinea being present at the sub-regional level, in the ECOWAS area with the OCWAR-C project, there was a national policy document that was developed at the regional level. So Guinea received the country report on April 22, 2021, which very clearly told us about the situation in our country. This prompted the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy to initiate a series of training and awareness workshops. Today's workshop is mainly devoted to digital hygiene,” explained the Director General of the National Information Systems Security Agency, Senkoun Kourouma. Funded by the European Union to the tune of 7.5 million euros, in partnership with the ECOWAS Commission and implemented by the French international technical cooperation agency Expertise France, the OCWAR-C project aims to strengthen the cybersecurity and fight against cybercrime in ECOWAS Member States and Mauritania.
