Under the chairmanship of Serge EKUE, the Board of Directors of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) met by videoconference for its 124th ordinary session. On the occasion, the directors examined and approved nine (09) financing proposals for a total amount of 102,549 billion CFA francs.

After approving the minutes of the 123rd meeting, held on 26 May 2021, and the state of recovery of the Bank's loan claims as of 31 May 2021, the Board took note of the mid-term achievements of the financial forecasts for the financial year 2021, the information note relating to the conclusions arising from the annual review of BOAD's financial rating by international rating agencies and the Bank's framework for measuring development results and impacts 2021—2025. The new approvals bring the total of BOAD's commitments (all operations combined) since the start of its operational activities in 1976 to 6 532.7 billion CFA francs.

The loans approved concern the partial financing of the following projects: Integrated Development of Wassoulou in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (PDIW-CI) Phase 1; Agricultural Land Development of the Oti Plain (PATA-OTI): Zone 4 (Sadori, Fare and Koukombou) and Zone 5 (Nali and Koulifiekou) in the Togolese Republic; Asphalting of the Biéby section — Bettie of the Yakasse Attobrou — Bettie section, in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire; Support to the Inclusive Finance Development Fund in the Republic of Niger; Strengthening the northern corridor of Côte d'Ivoire: construction of the second 225 kV Taabo-Kossou-Bouaké substation and extension of the Taabo, Kossou and Bouaké 2 substations in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire; Strengthening the electrical network of the Société Energie du Mali (EDM-SA) in the Republic of Mali; Extension of the power of the solar photovoltaic power plant in Blitta in the Togolese Republic from 30 to 50 MWC; Construction and Operation of a 5-star luxury mall and business hotel by the Burkina Construction Company (BCC) SAS in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; Short-term credit in favor of the National Bank for Economic Development (BNDE)) for the partial refinancing of the 2020-2021 groundnut season in Senegal.
