In a recently published report, the Association of African Airlines (AFRAA), ranks Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport in Lomé (AIGE), in 2nd position of the airport hubs of the West African sub-region, the most connected to the others capitals of the continent.

Indeed, since the rehabilitation of Lomé International Airport in 2016, more than 2 million passengers transit annually through Lomé, according to the Togolese authorities. "The performance justifies the major reforms undertaken in recent years, in order to make the country a regional hub, through the extension of reception and cargo capacities including the construction of a new terminal building," said Gnama Latta, Director of AIGE. According to the report, Togo is overtaken by Côte d'Ivoire in the WAEMU. On the continental level, on the other hand, the country ranks 10th among airports with the largest intra-African volume of passengers.
