Togo has concluded a financing agreement with Exim Bank of India aimed at unlocking approximately 22 billion FCFA, for the electrification of 350 localities by solar photovoltaic systems, increasing the financial institution's commitments in favor of energies in Togo.

This is the 3rd line of credit of the Indian bank to boost electrification in the West African country. The funds will allow 2,000 solar irrigation systems to be installed and 500 schools to be electrified. The installation of 500 solar pumping systems for the supply of drinking water and 12,000 solar street lamps was also announced. This signing of an agreement, which took place the day after the inauguration of the Blitta solar power plant, is in line with the ambition of the Togolese authorities to make energy accessible to all by 2030. The Togolese government, for whom access to domestic energy is a catalyst and accelerator for the development of towns and villages that benefit from it, maintains that this project “will contribute to improving the living conditions of rural populations living in localities isolated from the conventional network
