The exchange rate at 06:50 indicates an increase in all currencies. Compared to the close in New York, EUR/USD is up 1.2190 by 0.11%, EUR/JPY 133.36 is up 0.18% and USD/JPY is forecasted to rise by 0.07%. In corporate news, in France, the reinsurer Scor and its first shareholder Covéa have found common ground to put an end to the conflict that has opposed them since the attempt takeover launched by Covéa in 2018. The two groups announced on Thursday evening that they had signed a memorandum of understanding putting an end to all ongoing legal proceedings and giving Scor an option to buy back the shares held by Covéa at a price of 28 euros per unit. EssilorLuxottica announced on the same day that it had obtained all regulatory approvals to acquire the Dutch optical distributor GrandVision, after the green light granted subject to conditions by the Turkish Competition Authority

.

Euronext, for its part, announced on Thursday the entry of the car rental company Europcar Mobility into the SBF 120 index, replacing Société Générale's subsidiary ALD, which specializes in long-term vehicle financing. These changes will take effect on Friday 18 June at the close, Euronext said in a press release. The telecommunications group Orange is due to publish on Friday the results of the internal investigation launched following the outage that disrupted emergency numbers in France last week. Laurent-Perrier also publishes its annual results on Friday. The annual general meetings of Bénéteau, ABC Arbitrage, Abionyx Pharma, Genomic Vision, HF Company and Xilam Animation are also on the agenda. As investors seem to be ignoring the latest signs of accelerating inflation in the United States, European equity markets are expected to open on a slightly positive note on Friday. At 7:30am, the CAC 40 futures contract gained 5.6 points, or 0.1%, according to data from broker IG Markets. The DAX 30 contract took 9 points, or 0.1%, while the FTSE 100 contract won 10.7 points, or 0.2%.
The New York Stock Exchange closed higher on Thursday, with investors remaining confident in the recovery of the economy despite a further acceleration of inflation in the United States in May. The S&P 500 expanded index reached its first all-time high since May 7, rising 0.5% to 4,239.18 points. In Asia, the main markets are evolving in a mixed manner on Friday. At the end of the session, the Nikkei index lost 0.03% in Tokyo, while the Hang Seng on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange gained 0.4%. The Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.3%. Returns rose briefly after the publication of the US Consumer Price Index, but this trend was reversed during the session. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond was stable on Friday morning, at 1.441%. According to some analysts, investors expected a rebound in prices compared to May 2020, when they were affected by the pandemic, and several of them point out that a temporary rise in the cost of cars largely fuelled the rise in the price index. The euro appreciated against the dollar and the yen on Friday. The greenback is also gaining ground against the Japanese currency. The yen is suffering from optimism in Asia. For DailyFX.com, higher-than-expected inflation in the United States is likely seen as a sign of good economic health and investors subscribe to the Federal Reserve's view that inflationary pressures are “transitory.” The euro is expected to strengthen against the dollar in the coming months, even though the pace of economic recovery is uneven in European countries and inflation remains below the ECB's target, estimates Validus Risk Management. Oil futures are falling on Friday morning, after gaining ground the day before. At 7:35 a.m., the August North Sea Brent contract sold 35 cents, at $72.17 per barrel, while the July contract on Nymex-traded soft light crude (WTI) lost 31 cents, at $69.98 per barrel. The announcement of the lifting of sanctions imposed by the United States on some representatives of the Iranian oil sector is weighing on prices, as it suggests that negotiations on a nuclear agreement with Iran could soon be completed, reports ANZ. The market seems “convinced” that Brent and New York-listed soft light crude (WTI) “deserve to trade above $70 given the current demand trajectory, and maintaining these levels shows that patience is prevailing,” says Louise Dickson, oil market analyst at Rystad Energy, despite the sharper than expected rise in U.S. gas inventories last

week.
