On the sidelines of the “États Générales de l'Éco” opened on Wednesday in Lomé, the Togolese economist, Kako Nubukpo spoke to Point Afrique. The new UEMOA commissioner in charge of agriculture, water and the environment denounces inertia on the side of African states in the “franc” zone. According to Kako Nubukpo, the implementation of the single currency gives rise to two obvious situations. “On the one hand, France's desire to move forward on reform, since the French Parliament authorized President Macron in December 2020 to ratify the new monetary cooperation treaty between France and the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA). And on the other hand, inertia on the side of the African States in the Franc Zone in West Africa, since none of the parliaments of the States of the Union has given a mandate to any head of state to ratify the new text,” he said
