The ministerial committee of the Intergovernmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) met on Saturday, May 22, at the February 2 hotel in Lomé, in virtual and face-to-face sessions. The opening of the works was chaired by the Prime Minister, Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, who demonstrated the commitment of the Togolese authorities to issues of Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) in the sub-region

.

The ministers responsible for GIABA adopted the reports produced by the technical commission, which finished its work the day before, as well as those prepared by the GIABA secretariat. The most important decision was the adoption of Benin's mutual evaluation report.
These meetings were also an opportunity for the responsible ministers to assess the results obtained by the GIABA secretariat and the Member States in the implementation of preventive and repressive measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT) during the period under review. The committee finally examined the memorandum on the GIABA efficiency improvement program, initiated by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), involving the Member States and the role of the ministerial committee

.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé noted that the security environment in the West African subregion is increasingly marked by terrorism and organized crime. That is why, she will say, GIABA needs the continued support of governments
