The Council of Ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) has appointed Mamadou Diop from Niger as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

Mamadou Diop will be responsible for supporting the governor of the BCEAO, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, in a context of post-Covid-19 economic recovery where central banks have a major role to play. He will hold this position beginning on 1 May 2021, for a term of 5 years (2021-2025). Furthermore, the Board informed that it has amended the relevant provisions of the statutes of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) in order to appoint a second Vice-President
