As part of the implementation of the Support Project for the Resilience of Cotton Systems in the North of Côte d'Ivoire (RESCO), the French Development Agency and Côte d'Ivoire signed an agreement of 26, 2 billion FCFA this Thursday, April 29, 2021.

Regional centers for motorized agricultural services will soon be made available to cotton growers in the Ivorian cotton basin in order to boost cotton production. An agreement, for an amount of 40 million euros or 26.2 billion CFA Francs, was signed between Côte d'Ivoire and the French Development Agency as part of the financing of the RESCO project.

Ministers Adama Coulibaly, Moussa Sanogo respectively Minister of Economy and Finance; Minister of Budget and State Portfolio, Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy, Finance and Relaunch, and Emmanuel Debroise, Director of the AFD agency in Abidjan, signed this credit agreement between AFD and the State of Côte d'Ivoire in the presence of Jean Christophe Belliard, Ambassador of France in Côte d'Ivoire.

This new project provides for infrastructure (rural roads, storage and processing equipment), the strengthening of research and agricultural advice, as well as support for the structuring of cooperatives and their organizations. Under the terms of this contract, these actions will directly benefit more than 120,000 farms and, beyond that, all players in the sector. Finally, this project will contribute to adapting to the effects of climate change, by promoting agroecology and mechanization, allowing better control of the vagaries of the climate. These actions will be carried out using a gender-sensitive approach.
