The West African Economic Monetary Union (UEMOA) contributed $43 million to the consolidated net profit of the Ecobank Group. The zone is presented as the most successful region for the institution in the first quarter of 2021

Cards are being redistributed in the various regions where Ecobank operates. With a contribution of $43 million, UEMOA proves to be the most profitable region of the pan-African banking holding based in Lomé, Togo. The Union displayed its capabilities during the first quarter of 2021, and Nigeria continues to decline in importance in the group's results

UEMOA's performance was supported by bank operating income of $133.45 million, up 13% compared to the same period in 2020. No other region has had this level of income or this increase. Net provisions for credit risks increased by $5 million to $14 million. But in reality, the share of risky loans in the overall volume of loans fell to 3.5% compared to 3.9%

The second best performing region is that made up of the English-speaking countries of West Africa (AWA), except Nigeria, which generated a net profit of $41 million. All of the ECOBANK group's UEMOA subsidiaries were also marked by an overall return on equity of 21.4%
