While inventories slightly exceeded the increase of 436,000 barrels, oil prices fell. At 7:30 a.m., the June contract for North Sea Brent lost 23 cents to $65.09 a barrel, while the same maturity contract for Nymex-listed light sweet crude (WTI) lost 24 cents to $61.11 a barrel.
Analysts point to the unexpected rise in U.S. crude inventories released Wednesday by the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA) as the main bearish factor.
