Abdellatif Jouahri announces that Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) is in contact with three foreign central banks on the implementation of electronic money. These are the central bank of Canada, the central bank of England, and the central bank of Switzerland.

During a regular press briefing, Abdellatif Jouahri, from Bank Al-Maghrib, gave further details concerning the special system put in place in recent months. He announced that BAM has set up three commissions.
“One for central bank electronic money and the other two for cryptoassets as well as monitoring developments,” explains the number one at the Kingdom's central bank. “We do not want to see a divide between what is being done abroad and the domestic market,” he said.

First, digital currency will be used only in relations and exchanges between the central bank and other banks. The deployment process will be carried out in retail currency for the general public.
