According to the perspectives of the Danske Bank teams, “the figures in Europe should continue to highlight a two-tier economy, where the manufacturing sector is losing steam and services are slowing, while PMIs in the US are likely to remain high.”

The composite PMI index of overall activity in the United States - calculated by IHS Markit - jumps from 59.5 in February to 59.1 in a “flash” estimate for the current month, nevertheless signaling the second highest growth in the private sector in six years.
The Dow Jones rose by 0.8% followed by the S&P 500 at +0.2%, while the Nasdaq declined by 0.5%
