Illicit connections and unilateral manipulations on electricity networks have cost Côte d'Ivoire 40 billion CFA francs. The figures were unveiled on Friday, March 19, 2021 during an information and awareness meeting.

The National Regulatory Authority of the Electricity Sector of Côte d'Ivoire (ANARE-CI) estimated at more than 40 billion CFA francs, the damage suffered by Côte d'Ivoire in 2019 mainly related to electricity fraud.
The head of anassion-CI Yamoussoukro's appeals department, Bessecon Achi, said electricity fraud is punishable by law. The repressive mechanism of administrative repression consists in the suspension of the supply of electricity and the calculation of a penalty including the penalty of finding or the bill of recovery.
Bessecon Achi urged people to have the right reflexes that spare accusations of fraud while avoiding illicit connections and unilateral manipulations of his counting panel.
