With funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB), Africa will soon have a shared platform to monitor cyberattacks against financial service providers and individuals. The center will be based in Dakar, Senegal.

The creation of the Africa Cybersecurity Resource Center for Financial Inclusion, the ACRC aims to combat cybercrime and build the resilience of digital financial ecosystems in Africa. It will have a shared digital platform to monitor and prevent cyberattacks against financial service providers and individuals, continent-wide. This organization will also be provided with an individual advice service to enable financial institutions to consolidate their IT security.

“We look to ACRC members and operational partners to help lay the foundations for a coordinated and effective response to growing cybersecurity concerns and build a sustainable model for delivering these essential services on the continent.” , said Sheila Okiro, ADFI coordinator.

The ACRC should also house talent incubators, with the aim of meeting the needs for expertise in the field of cybersecurity. Two companies will oversee ACRC's activities, namely: Excellium Services and SecurityMadeIn.Lu.
