Taxation is growing strongly in Côte d'Ivoire. 2352.1 billion FCFA were collected in 2020, representing an increase of 56.2 billion FCFA.

The Director General of Taxes (DGI), Abou Sié Ouattara, indicates that the tax administration achieved 235.2.1 billion CFA francs for an overall target of 2295.9 billion CFA francs in 2020, i.e. a gap of +56.2 billion CFA francs for a production rate of 102.4%. However, the country lost nearly 500 billion CFA francs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has impacted the activities of the tax administration and the low level of return on certain taxes, in particular value added tax (VAT) and property tax, whose returns did not meet our expectations.
“We have returned to the virtuous cycle of progression and forward. We no longer have the right to back down and no longer have the right to blame,” said Abou Sié Ouattara, during a seminar reviewing the 2020 financial year and the outlook for 2021.
Commending the tax administrators for this positive result, the Minister of Budget and State Portfolio, Moussa Sanogo, announced that 2021 is a year of great challenges. Namely: the expansion of the tax base, tax exemption, the effectiveness of tax control, the adjustment and the rate of certain taxes
