Actors at various levels in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing have been participating in an international training seminar since Tuesday, February 9, in Lomé.

Members of the National Order of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Accountants of Togo (ONECCA-Togo), bank executives, insurance companies, decentralized financial systems, financial directors of public and private companies, in collaboration with the International Federation of Francophone Accountants (FIDEF) met around the issue of money laundering.
The objective of this seminar is to raise awareness among actors and to present the legal provisions in force to combat the phenomenon whose legal framework is regulated by two laws in Togo. An opportunity for the actors concerned to discuss international safeguard mechanisms and arrangements, with a view to increasing the protection of the integrity of the national and international financial system.
Opening the work, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Kossi Tofio, welcomed the organization of this seminar, which is a framework for strengthening the capacities of stakeholders. It will allow participants, he says, to acquire technical knowledge and to become more familiar with international standards on combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
“We have an obligation to put in place working techniques to be able to cover this aspect because if you do a check, you must be able to put in place procedures that allow you to ensure that the entity you control is not involved in these types of phenomena,” said the president of ONECCA-Togo, Yawo Djidotor
