7 West African countries benefit from a financial envelope of 2.4 million euros for the resilience of their agricultural sector. This support targets 11 pilot projects.

The 11 projects concerned were selected in December 2020 following the second call for project proposals launched in June 2020 by Expertise France in favor of more climate-resilient agriculture in ECOWAS. This project is under the aegis of ECOWAS and in collaboration with the Permanent Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS), within the framework of the “GCCA+West Africa” project funded by the European Union (EU).
The common mission of these projects is to finance the implementation and capitalization of innovative local solutions with high replication and/or scale-up potential for the West African region concerning adaptation to the impacts of climate change (seed selection, climate services, agro-ecological practices, early warning systems) and the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions (carbon storage, exhaust). by solar pumping, renewable energies in transformation units, etc.) ”, underlines the Expertise France press release at the end of January.
