Did you know ? The cashew nut has become the third udder of the Ivorian economy. Since 2015, Côte d'Ivoire has become the world's largest producer and exporter of this product, with a production of 702,000 tons, or 21% of world production.

The value of cashew exports made in Côte d'Ivoire in 2016 was estimated at more than 400 billion CFA francs. A figure that has raised this crop to the third rank of the most important export products after cocoa and refined petroleum products, and ahead of rubber, cotton and coffee.

Côte d'Ivoire accumulated 634,000 tonnes during the 2018-2019 campaign. Denguélé, Savanes, Worodougou, Vallée du Bandama and Zanzan are the main production areas.

By occupying first place in the world ranking, the country is now positioned as one of the strongholds of the cashew nut, with an annual target of 800,000 tonnes. Gray gold presents itself as a serious alternative to support the coffee-cocoa binomial.

As a reminder, the Ivorian government has set the price for the 2020 campaign at 400 CFA francs / kg.
