Pan-African group Liquid Telecom has appointed Wole Abu as CEO of Liquid Telecom Nigeria. He will also be in charge of the Africa Data Center (ADC) in Nigeria, starting in January 2021.

A former CEO of Pan African Towers (PAT) before joining Liquid Telecom, Wole Abu served as Vice President of Sales at Airtel Nigeria, where he also held several management positions in the departments of Human Resources, engineering, operations, finance, legal and marketing respectively. He has, during his rich career, also managed startups and mature companies. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering with honors from the University of Benin and an MBA from Lagos Business School.

“Abu brings over 14 years of experience in the telecommunications industry which will be integral to expanding our fiber optic network across the African continent. With the commissioning of our East-West link, it is essential that we start working with companies in Nigeria to develop the local telecommunications and technology ecosystem and also establish ourselves as a data center provider of benchmark,” said MEWA Regional CEO, Liquid Telecom, Mohamed Abdel Bassit.

Liquid Telecom recently started construction of the data center in Lagos, which will be the largest data center in Africa outside of South Africa. ADC will serve the growing demand for cloud storage and digital services on the continent and Abu will be responsible for overseeing the strategic growth of ADC's operations in this new market. The company has raised $307 million via a rights issue to fund data center projects across Africa.
