Researchers, academics, business leaders, investors, businessmen and women from Benin and the diaspora have been reflecting since yesterday on the industrialization of Africa. For 72 hours, they will discuss and share their experiences in order to identify the type of industrialization model specific to our continent. A happy economic perspective that is planned for the first edition of the Economic Forum of the Diaspora for the Industrialization of Africa (FEDIA), an international forum launched at Sun Beach Hotel in Cotonou. "Africa must rely on its resources to develop" affirmed Marx Tomety at the start of the work of the said forum.
According to him, the idea of this forum started from the analysis of the functioning of the world economy which reveals to us that the concept of globalization and the globalization of the economy is an invention, a new jungle in which the heavyweights (the great powers) try to crush the weaker ones through bilateral and/or multilateral agreements. The conscience of Africans is challenged, because to exist in globalization and the globalization of the economy, Africa must industrialize. Unfortunately, it is lagging behind, regrets Marx Tomety, who assured that the alarm clock has sounded and Africa must think about its industrialization. For the secretary general of the High Council of Beninese Abroad, Alfred Idohou, he salutes the enlightened vision of President Patrice Talon who has dematerialized public administration. He clarified the role of the diaspora in the economic development of the country and beyond the continent. He said further that a scientific group has been set up for this purpose and which brings together more than a hundred Beninese, all executives scattered around the world.
The FEDIA to think about the industrialization of the continent
The Diaspora Economic Forum for the Industrialization of Africa (FEDIA) was then created to bring together all the forces to think about the industrialization of the continent. It is an annual event that will bring together businessmen and women on the continent, the African diaspora and African leaders to find the ways and means by which Africa will achieve industrialization. During the three days at Sun Beach Hotel, conferences and workshops will identify the type of industrialization model specific to Africa. The promoters of major projects will have the opportunity to defend them in front of large groups of investors present on the digital platform.
According to the chairman of the organizing committee, Marx Tomety, this forum is not just another forum. On the contrary, it is a constant search for solutions to the industrialization of Africa. The objective is therefore to make Africa a continent capable of transforming 80℅ of these raw materials into finished products by 2030 and an industrial power by 2035. He will humbly ask the leaders of African countries to support them in the implementation of the conclusions that will emerge from their work.
