And this, out of a total of 40 recommendations from the International Financial Action Task Force ( FATF ). They relate to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. This is what the Tunisian Commission for Financial Analysis (CTAF) said on Wednesday.
Indeed, the MENAFATF comprises 16 countries of the region and 12 observers, including the World Bank and the IMF.
Thus, during its 30th plenary meeting, held in Egypt, from November 26 to 28, 2019, it adopted Tunisia's 4th follow-up report. This report includes a request for revision of the technical compliance note relating to the fight against money laundering. It asks Tunisia to submit a 5th enhanced monitoring report; during the 32nd plenary, scheduled for November 2020.
Furthermore, “the report of the Financial Action Task Force on the Middle East and North Africa recognizes that Tunisia has made progress. And this, on the way to strengthening its national system to fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism”, according to the CTAF.
In addition, the Financial Action Task Force on the Middle East and North Africa is responsible, among other tasks, for the adoption and implementation of the 40 recommendations of the FATF on the fight against money laundering. and terrorism and proliferation financing and action across the region.
Its objective is to fight effectively against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. And in a way that does not contradict the cultural values, constitutional frameworks and legal systems of member countries.
