Through its pro-cashew project, the American NGO, Development gateway, initiated a workshop this Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Seen Hotel, in Abidjan-Plateau with a view to the restitution of the mission to assess the diagnosis of the sector. and the co-creation of the “cashew-in” platform.

The objective is to overcome the problems of competitiveness of the cashew sector in West Africa. Opening the workshop, Koné Effierita Fatagna, technical adviser to the director of the studies and forecasting information system at the Cotton and Cashew Council, stressed the importance of pooling efforts in order to make adequate and objective decisions for the sustainable development of the cashew sector
Jean François Guay, chief of party pro cashew, reassured that efforts will be made so that this database which will be developed can be useful to all actors in the cashew value chain. He hopes that the establishment of a committee that can meet as this platform develops will provide added value. Mr. Guay expressed the hope that this initiative could help other countries in the sub-region and enable more players to benefit from it.

The pro-cashew project takes place in five African countries which are Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Benin and Nigeria. It is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (Usda).
